That wonderful Smell

What is your favorite smell?
- Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Apple Pie
- Fresh bouquet of flowers: lilacs or easter lillies
- Baby powder (maybe its just the contrast with the smell from before you change the diaper)
Well, my favorite is one that is completely new to me and not on the list above. I had no idea it was even there. I happens when I send the kids out to play and they’ve been outside for a good long while and then they come in. I can’t describe it but they have absorbed some sort of “outside smell.” It may sound like I am crazy but it is wonderful. I wish I could capture it in words. I need to be a poet or something. But I am not.
We were at the movies the other night (drive-in) and Timo was sitting in my lap and his hair had absorbed the “outside”. I must a have looked like a real freak, sitting there smelling his hair.
I swear there is nothing wrong with me….. is there?
Last weeek a skunk was “moving house” along with at least three kittens. On one of her return trips she got behind me as I walked down the driveway. I stopped and turned around and there she was. I turned back around and ran as best I can. I looked and smelled and saw her running the other way. Then I noticed that wonderful non-smell of skunk that passed me by.
